St. Columba School offers supervised after school care daily until 5:30 p.m. Rates for the 2010-2011 school year are $5.00 for the first hour, and $3.00 for each additional hour. We are considering offering Before School Care between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. Additional information will be posted as we our update the program for the new school year.

Dear St. Columba School Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back to another year at St. Columba School!  I will be the coordinator for the Afterschool Care Program.  I look forward to working with you and your children again this year.  Permit me to explain some points regarding our Afterschool Care Program, especially for those of you who may be new to St. Columba School.

St. Columba School offers an “Afterschool “ childcare service to our families in need of care beyond regular school hours and on early dismissal days, (scheduled or due to inclement weather.)  Work study and nursing students from Bloomsburg University and qualified volunteers will assist throughout the year.

We provide supervised recreational time, assistance with homework and school library visits.  This year, in order to keep the costs down, we will not be providing a snack.  Parents are asked to provide a daily snack and drink for their child.  The program is available from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. on regular school days and until 2:30 p.m. on early dismissal days.  The fee is $5.00 for the first hour and $3.00 for each additional hour per child.  Families will be billed monthly.

I ask that any family who may utilize the Afterschool Care Program at any time during the year to please complete the attached registration form so that we may have important emergency information on file in the event you will need to use the service.

If your child(ren) will be using the Afterschool Care Program on a daily basis, please inform their teachers.  If you plan to use the program only on occasion, you will need to send a note to the teacher(s) and the school office on the day(s) you need the service.  Anytime a change is made from the child’s normal dismissal plan, a note needs to be sent to your child’s teacher and to the school office.

We need to make sure there is no confusion as to where a child is going at the end of the school day.  There may be times when you need to rely on the program at the last minute.  In this situation, you must call the school office (784-5932) before 2:00 p.m. to ensure that your child is not put on his/her bus.    Any student who does not ride a bus and is not picked up at dismissal will be automatically sent to the Afterschool Care Program and charges will apply.  In addition, students participating in clubs or after school activities that are not picked up promptly at club/activity dismissal will be sent to Afterschool Care and charges will apply.

I am certain that with the efforts of parents/guardians, staff and volunteers working together, we will have a successful 2010/2011 Afterschool Care Program!
